Descrizione

La lunghezza del guscio varia tra 30 mm e 137 mm. Il guscio di colore fulvo giallastro è fasciato in modo obsoleto di bianco nella parte centrale e superiore, a volte le bande non sono continue, ma sono costituite da segni obliqui irregolari. La spirale del corpo è circondata da linee impresse obsolete. È macchiato di viola-castagna verso la base. La guglia bassa è convessa, con tubercoli arrotondati piuttosto ottusi. L'interno bianco è macchiato di viola chiaro. Come tutte le specie del genere Conus, queste lumache sono predatrici e velenose. Sono in grado di "pungere" gli esseri umani, quindi quelli vivi dovrebbero essere maneggiati con attenzione o evitati.

Diffusione

Questa specie marina è presente nel Mar Rosso, nell'Indo-Pacifico tropicale e al largo di Papua Nuova Guinea e Australia (Territorio del Nord, Queensland e Australia occidentale).
